NSDAP (Ger. Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei), i.e. the National Socialist German Workers' Party, is a German Nazi party whose leader from 1921 was Adolf Hitler. It was originally called DAP and was founded in 1919 by Anton Drexler. A year later, it changed its name to NSDAP. The party's program was characterized by, among other things, the desire to radically revise the provisions of the Versailles Treaty, a clearly negative attitude towards democratic and liberal principles, nationalism and chauvinism, but also extreme anti-Semitism. In 1923, Adolf Hitler, together with the NSDAP, made the so-called the Munich coup, which turned out to be a completely unsuccessful attempt to seize power. As a result, the party leader was imprisoned in the Landsberg fortress, where he wrote a program book of Nazi ideology called "Mein Kampf". Until the Great Depression of 1929, the NSDAP played a marginal role on the German political scene. However, after this disastrous economic event, the Nazi party's ratings began to rise, and finally - in 1932 - it won the elections to the Reichstag, the German parliament. In January 1933, Adolf Hitler was appointed chancellor of Germany. From that date, one can speak of the rapid destruction of the German democratic system, a process that took the Nazis less than a year! From the end of 1933 until 1945, i.e. during the rule of the Nazi party and Adolf Hitler, Germany was a model example of a totalitarian state that was responsible for the unleashed World War II and gruesome crimes against humanity.
